Fixer - A Novel by Ed BrodowA page turner! Couldn't put it down

Review of Fixer by T. Androus on Amazon.com

It has been a long time since I read anything that combines a "hot" story with characters that are this believable. Harry Leonnoff is evidently based on the author's real-life grandfather. Throw in Fiorello La Guardia, "Curly Murphy," and Marie DeSante and you can't lose. Fixer has plenty of sex and violence, but tastefully done within the context of the story, which only serves to make this novel exciting from beginning to end. Harry's life is explored from his humble beginnings on New York's Lower East Side slums to his emergence as one of the most powerful political "fixers" in New York. The human side of his character is deftly explored, which made me really care about how his life turns out. The bonus is the wonderful last chapter in which Harry's life is seen through the eyes of his grandson. All in all, a super read.
